2000 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
SKU: B401/FR
Regular price $189.95Produced in small quantities, this second wine is a gateway to the world of Château La Mission Haut-Brion. Its name is a nod to the chapel of La Mission Haut-Brion, built by Lazarist priests in 1698. The Château La Mission Haut-Brion vineyard straddles the towns of Talence and Taynac. The aging time in oak barrels is 18 to 22 months in 20 to 25% of new wood. It comes from the same vineyards as the Mission Haut Brion, it is raised in the same way and with as much care. It is actually a reduced model of the latter. We try to give it the same harmony, the same aromas. Starting in the 2006 vintage, La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion blending has benefited from the grapes produced on the old parcels of Château La Tour Haut-Brion.
"Lovely bright hue. Clean on the nose, with considerable aromatic intensity for a second-label wine. Initially, lively fresh fruit flavors dominate, followed by the cherry and smoky notes typical of Graves wines from Pessac. On the palate, one is struck at first by the wine’s full-bodied balance and then, quite quickly, the firm tannins coat the mouth agreeably, (from the website)".
