When we sold through a little parcel of Roulot’s 2014 Bourgogne Blanc early last year we made peace with having seen the last of it.  But not before drinking a bottle ourselves.  The 2014 struck us then as the completest-to-date rendition of this routinely excellent cuvée, easily outclassing the little family of premiers crus we opened alongside.

The midpalate is more flavory and textural than the ultra-fresh nose seems to promise, a swell of ripe citrus in the middle before the finish trails off into stones.  It’s vital and incisive without coming across a bit lean.  Acidity, and there is plenty of it, thrusts the wine forward but leaves the clear and articulate fruit to do the heaviest lifting.

Part Puligny, part Meursault, and all over a Bourgogne triumph

Cheers,

Jason
