Tasting 2021 Rousseau you start to squint at the vintage's reputation for stylistic unusualness. The growing season was erratic, in fact bizarrely so, but the better 2021 reds have a polished and vibrant feel that negates extremist pigeon-holing. Fresh, transparent, pulsy, pure: to inventory particulars is simply to list what most of us wish to find oftener in our Red Burgundies.
Tracking with other strong 2021s, Rousseau's are smaller-scaled though not at all small wines. Vitalism and intensity rather than bulk measures their true size. A beautiful set.
