Slightly darker in color than the Bourgogne Rouge this year, Cathiard’s 2023 Hautes Côtes leads with black raspberry and cherry perfume alongside touches of sandalwood and Earl Grey. Obvious high quality oak, rare for this appellation, both spices the fruit and polishes away any high-altitude edges.
Just the fifth release of this cuvée and the most persuasive evidence to date how well elevation complements Cathiard’s late harvest approach. Better than the Bourgogne Rouge (again) this year.
