Nodding along with the above, to which I’ll add how beautifully Lamy’s 2017s have aged. The wines have never known a moody moment, true enough, but today they are profounder pleasures than even optimistic expectations might have guessed.
I always imagine Chassagne ‘Les Macherelles’ to be a wine Olivier especially enjoys making. There is greater nervosité elsewhere (the various St.-Aubins, Puligny ‘Tremblots,' and Chassange ‘Chaumées’ virtaully trade on tension). ‘Les Macherelles’ opens to another world entirely: ripe citrus and early season peaches, ginger and white pepper. One is tempted to add ‘exotic’ though the ultra-fresh finish clarifies the fruit too beautifully for the designation to quite work.
Just two barrels this year.
Cheers,
Jason
