2009 was open for business for the first 3-5yrs after being released, and suddenly closed for a couple of years, and now it’s back. The 2009 Pavillon Rouge displays a super attractive floral nose with more red fruit than black fruit, perfumed red berries with complex wild herb spice. I enjoyed the secondary animal character with silky tannins that represent Margaux very well. It’s ripe but structured with solid acidity and a long, long finish. - Daniel
After tasting this 2009 Pavillon from Château Margaux together recently, this offer more-or-less wrote itself. The wine offers wonderfully perfumed aromatics, fresh yet ripe, the fruit streaked with a most attractive potpourri/dried flower aspect as if the wine had been steeped. The palate is wonderfully rich, almost-creamy textured, the fruit plump and purple-y. Wonderful stuff here. - Jason
We do not often offer Bordeaux but at a recent staff dinner this bottle was a real standout. Still youthful and primary after over a decade, but with lovely spice and savory notes beginning to unfurl. The generosity of the 2009 vintage can be felt in the ripe character of the black fruit here yet the wine does not lack freshness. A great bottle to drink now after a couple hours in the decanter or to forget about for another decade. This is the lowest price in the US.
