2022 Pierre Girardin Meursault 'Le Limozin'

Le Limozin is one of the top lieu-dit in Meursault, bordering 1er Cru Genevrières. The vines are 50+ year old. Fermented and aged in 456L barrels (30% new) for 10 months + 8  months in stainless steel.

Pierre-Vincent Girardin is a 13th generation Burgundian winemaker who grew up among the vines in his father’s Domaine. Starting his own label with the family holdings of Les Folatières in Puligny-Montrachet at the age of 21, he has become a formidable force among young winemakers in Burgundy. Expanding beyond the 4.5 hectares, his family contacts brought him access to top growers in Puligny Folatières, Volnay Clos des Chênes, Pommard Epenots, Corton-Charlemagne. 

Grapes hail from the Premier Cru plot in the south of Meursault, under the “Perrières” plot. With a south-east exposure it is part of the “Charmes Dessus” lieu-dit on clay-limestone soil. Vinified as 100% whole cluster with 12 months in 456l oak barrels (2/3 new) and 7 months in steel tank. Intense freshness in the mouth, great salinity and citrus zest, chiselled finish with ageing potential of 10 to 15 years.
