2021 Hubert Lignier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er cru 'Aux Combottes'
SKU: FR
Regular price $329.95This is one of those rare 1er Crus that, geographically, is literally surrounded by Grand Cru vineyards. In this case, it is encircled by Latricières-Chambertin to the north, Charmes-Chambertin to the east and Clos de la Roche on its southern and western sides. Obviously, production is very limited. In many vintages, the wine offers even more spice and mineral intensity than the Seuvrées, with an imposing, grand-cru-like density on the palate. 70-80% destemmed. 20-30% new oak. Vines planted in 1957. The soil, lying on a gentle slope, is composed of sand, clay and silt.
"Cooler and more elegant aromas feature aromas of airy black cherry, anise, plum and a violet top note. The super-sleek and wonderfully refined medium-bodied flavors also possess a polished mouthfeel thanks to the very fine-grained tannins that shape the moderately austere, focused and sneaky long finale, (BH, 93 points)".
