The Chaves began making Hermitage in 1481. Traditional to the core, the current generation Gérard and son Jean-Louis are continuing a five-century dynasty of extraordinarily terroir expression. Bessards is the essential climat for their hermitage with vines ranging from 50-80 yrs old. The blend for Chave Hermitage Blanc is usually 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne.
