Special Offer Price - $42.95 per bottle with code BURGSTEAL

A classic in-plain-sight scenario here though glowy recent press has increasingly placed these traditional beauties in the conversational mainstream.  If deep, soulful, personality-drenched Burgs are your flavor you’ll be thrilled to have a 6-pack of this Bourgogne to start the Fall.

Bourgogne isn’t aesthetically quite right, technically correct though it may be.  Pascal Roblet’s Bourgogne breaks the vessels of appellation in any conceptually limiting sense.  Crack your first bottle expecting a villages-level performance: your expectations will be exceeded nonetheless.

Pascal was among the early exponents of high-density planting and many of his plots exceed 12,000 vines per hectare.  He was also an early adopter of higher training and denser canopies despite yield-reducing effects, joining Lalou Bize-Leroy in a tiny vanguard more than two decades ago.   Élévage is unusually long, typically 24 months, and Pascal prefers older 400L barrels for their usefulness in developing wines without ‘flavoring’ them.  As a result each wine presents as 25% more concentrated than its appellation has us expecting.

From vines in Volnay and Pommard.

Cheers,

Jason
