This is a RARE magnum opportunity here. Montjolys is a single vineyard wine coming from 7 small parcels vinified separately with some going through malo. Since the site has a bit more clay and deeper soil, the wine is powerful and opulent without losing its tension and acidity. I loved the delicacy of 2013 over 2012 with less ripe fruit expression, more precise acidity, and purity. I much prefer the 2013 over 2012 =) - Daniel
The single-vineyard ‘Montjolys’ made its debut in 2012, and the 2013 is a stunning sophomore showing. Tasting it alongside Rudolph’s flagship ‘Les Chétillons’ is fascinating, as ‘Montjolys’ shares the same vitality and chalky minerality, yet presents as notably more powerful and with a deeper, more textural personality. Given the proximity of these neighboring sites, the differences in their wines are striking and compellingly narrate the influence of terroir in a region where process often obscures a real sense of place. I just love how this ’13 marries finesse and tension with an almost decadent richness. - Jason
Today we present very limited availability of the instant classic “Les Montjolys” in its second vintage and en magnum. 100% Chardonnay as you'd expect from this vineyard in Grand Cru village Les Mesnil sur Oger. Lucky number seven for the parcels that go into the cuvée, of which only 10% of the best juice from pressing is used. A rarity in 750s, in magnum this is the only availability in the US.
