Wheelhouse summer red, and a wine that would be beautiful in any context. This is wonderfully aromatic, a wine you realize you’ve been sniffing curiously at a good while before tasting. There is such an effusively floral aspect to this wine, flitting petal-y scents meeting just-ripe red fruit, and a lovely diaphanous texture. This has a fleeting and delicate allure that recalls the here-today-gone-tomorrow beauty of summer. -Jason
"La Capitaine" is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Poulsard, which offers lifted high-toned strawberries, red cherries, blood orange peel and a hint of wildflowers. The initial attack on the palate is full of fresh red fruit and spice while you feel stony minerality on the mid-palate. It’s such a fun wine that offers full red fruit without a strong backbone structure, and it finishes with savory earth. -Daniel
This is a heady and refreshing melange of sour cherry and earthy cranberry. With supple tannin it's a perfect wine to drink slightly chilled, in respite from the unforgiving summer sun. The Domaine de la Pinte has been biodynamic for over a decade and organically farmed for even longer and they produce a bevy of characterful Jura wine. "La Capitaine" is a seamless blend of destemmed Poulsard and Pinot Noir, with very little extraction during fermentation and aging in old wood. It manages that feat of tasting unmistakably Jurassic without being at all rustic or unclean. We're thrilled to be offering this at the lowest prices in the US.
