You’ve read a lot about these guys here lately. Not much is exported and on this account the wines are less well known in the States than Europe. Michelin restaurants in European capitals are likelier to place Guillon verticals alongside Gevrey’s top producers, or, rather, alongside Gevrey’s other top producers.
If you’re new to these the style is rich and concentrated, rather earthy, with a certain succulence to the fruit. ‘Les Champonnets’ produces the freshest and most lifted of the premiers crus produced here. Look for clarity and definition rather than power. Guillon's is by margin the vineyard’s reference point.
