This estate, well known to Languedoc wine lovers since the 1980s, is back in the spotlight with wines of superlative elegance. Under the leadership of Benoît Pontenier, advised by Jean-François Ganevat from the Jura, the culture has moved to biodynamics. The mastery of vinifications carried out without the use of sulfur gives rise to wines of rare subtlety, in both white and red. The wines embody the finest in Languedoc. The estate has known several eras. In the 1970s, Alain Roux planted massal selections of first-rate Rhone and Mediterranean grape varieties. Namely Syrahs from Domaine Chave, Mouvèdres from Domaine Tempier and Grenache Noirs from Château Rayas. In 1994, the estate was bought by Chantal Lecouty and Jean-Claude Brun, former directors of the Revue du Vin de France. These journalists turned winemakers produced full-bodied and sunny wines at a time when Languedoc, considered a new Eldorado, was struggling to be recognised. The property was sold in 2009 to a Russian family passionate about wine, the Pumpyanskiys. Since 2015, Benoît Pontenier (manager) has been in charge of the 19 ha, and his desire was to breathe new life into the estate with a new style. Particular care is taken with the quality of the grapes and the cultivation methods are respectful of nature. The long ageing in tuns, the partial whole harvests for the reds have made it possible to produce very pure, mouth-watering wines with delicate tannins.
