A recent visit to the Paitin estate in Neive was full of delicious wines and fascinating history. The Pasquero-Elia family has been working these vineyards since 1796, and bottling the wines as Barbaresco for more than a century, even before their village officially joined Barbaresco. Three generations of the family are at work today in the vineyards and cellar, working organically and crafting Nebbiolo wines with equal power and grace.
"The 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Starda is a soft, fruity wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Crushed flowers, red berry fruit, spice and rose petals lend considerable nuance to this attractive, mid-weight Nebbiolo. Sandy soils yield an especially aromatic red, (VM, 90 points)".
