2008 Joseph Roty Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru 'Les Fontenys' (MAGNUM)

The Rotys family estate has existed since 1710 in Gevrey-Chambertin. Today, the Rotys control about 15 hectares of vines, and current winemaker Pierre-Jean Roty represents the 11th generation. The estate style is rich, powerful and sensual. The wines are matured in oak, normally not older than 2 year-old barrels from some of the oldest vines in the whole Côte d’Or (over 100 years old).

'A slightly riper but similar nose offers up complex and impressively dense red pinot fruit with obvious hints of game and underbrush that introduce very rich, full and somber medium bodied flavors that possess a supple and very round mid-palate and good focus on the admirably persistent finish.
