Nicolas Potel founded Maison Nicolas Potel in 1997 after leaving Domaine Pousse d’Or, following his father's sudden death and the syndicate’s decision to sell. Benefiting from strong industry relationships, he easily sourced quality grapes and quickly gained traction as a négociant. His early wines were well received, and the business grew rapidly—from over 80 cuvées in 1999 to around 120 by 2002, covering 50 Côte d'Or appellations and expanding into Beaujolais. With annual production reaching around 300,000 bottles, and strong distribution in Europe and Japan, the venture has seen meteoric success. Potel is supported by Business Manager Xavier Meney.
