With picturesque mountains, crisp alpine air and street signs equally in German and Italian, the Alto Adige can feels worlds away from many Italian wine regions. This is a blessed corner of the world with ample sunshine and mountain breezes aplenty to create wines of precision and balance. It is no wonder within this region one sees a certain Germanic influence on winemaking after all it was historically part fo the Austrian empire's Tyrol. One of the most quality-conscious producers who helped usher in a wave of acclaim for the Alto Adige is Elena Walch, formerly a trained architect. Walch has always been adamant of careful stewardship of her vineyard's land by being extremely careful to limit pesticides, fungicides and all other treatments by electing to use natural preparations whenever possible.

Walch's 'Selezione' Pinot Grigio is a snappy, clean reflection of the Alto Adige's cool climate and a great complement to many dishes like grilled fish, poultry and many cheeses. This is not your average fruity Pinot Grigio as flavors of savory herbs, a touch of pepper and subtle salinity round out the palate.
