The name of the company comes from the former presence of a mill in the area, and from the name, Chavalier LaRose, of the then owner of the nearby Chateau Gruaud Rose in the 18th century. In 1971, the Chateau was bought by Guy Delon and is now run by his two sons, Jean Francois and Guylene. It has 5 hectares under vine, which earns it the nickname of the Lilliputian of Saint Julien, surrounded as it is by Grand Cru Classes. It is said to have the best gravel plots in the entire territory. Here, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are grown naturally and biodynamically.
The grapes come from gravel-rich soil, the grapes are harvested by hand and then fermented in steel tanks with a maceration period of over 3 weeks. Maturation is for at least 20 months in barriques, of which 30% are new, with 7 racking in total.
