Founded in the late 1800’s by D. Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta, the estate is a rarity in Rioja, using only estate bottled fruit from their prized vineyards (Tondonia, Cubillo, Bosconia and Zaconia). Following a tradition, the wines are released at least 5-10 years after harvest. In average, vines are 45 years old, organically farmed, creating wines that exhibit great terroir. Viña Bosconia Gran Reserva is only made in exceptional vintages, coming from a vineyard called El Bosque at an altitude of 465m. Usually, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano.

*Historically, Viña Bosconia comes from a Burgundy-style wine that Rafael López de Heredia used to make with a high percentage of Pinot Noir, and which he called “Rioja Cepa Borgoña”.
