Overlooking Florence is the hillside town of Fiesole, an Etruscan settlement going back to roughly the 9th century BC. Within this walled town is the Castello di Vincigliata where lively winemaker and artist Bibi Graetz makes his wines from Tuscan indigenous varietals as well as a few from Bordeaux. Graetz seeks out old plantings throughout Tuscany which are believed to give more expressive grapes contributing to his more intensity of flavor driven style of winemaking. 'Casamatta' slang for 'crazy house' is a pure Tuscan Sangiovese wine with vineyard sources ranging from the hills north of Florence down to the southern edges of Siena. Fresh, vivacious and fun, this is an artfully made wine true to the noble Sangiovese.
