Self-proclaimed as the 'last of the Mohicans', the late Bartolo Mascarello was an ardent champion of maintaining the time-honor traditions of Barolo. Dating back to just after World War II, Mascarello and now his daughter, Maria Teresa, have crafted soulful Baroli true to their terroir, eschewing trends such as the use of barrique. The family's holdings are concentrated in the western half of the Barolo zone where prestigious crus such as Cannubi, San Lorenzo and Rocche dell'Annunziata are blended as is tradition creating legendary representations of Nebbiolo with capabilities of aging for generations.
