Representing one of Volnay's most traditional winemaking, family's the Lafarge name has become synonymous with harmonious, restrained and intricate wines. Certified biodynamic, Domaine Michel Lafarge is rigid about their vineyard practices hoping to create transparent wines with the consistent capability of long-term aging. Sadly, Michel Lafarge passed away last January with over sixty vintages under his belt but the winery is great hands as his son Frédéric and now his granddaughter Clothilde are dedicated to carrying the torch to its well-established high standards.
Passe-tout-grains wines are lively expressions of Burgundy meets Beaujolais with Lafarge's 'L'Exception' containing an equal blend of Pinot Noir and Beaujolais planted in gravelly soils near the edge of Meursault some 90 years ago. This is super fun, approachable wine and a great introduction to what Lafarge has to offer
