This Volnay 1er Cru Le Ronceret 2017 from Domaine Génot-Boulanger is a great Burgundy wine, full of finesse and aromatic intensity. The plot takes its name from the old French roncier , which designates a bush of brambles; the plot was once full of these thorny plants. It comes from a plot of Pinot Noir planted in 1958, whose total surface area is 0.40 hectares. The vines rest on deep, gravelly soil combined with Bathonian limestone, which is characterized by its stony and reddish appearance. The aging of this Premier Cru is done in two stages, with firstly, a passage of 12 months in oak barrels and subsequently an aging of 6 months in vats. In an approach that aims to be as least interventionist as possible, Domaine Génot-Boulanger favors long fermentations, extractions that are intended to be as gentle as possible, no fining or filtration, to allow the typicity of the terroir but also of the vintage.
