2017 Alain Gras St.-Romain Blanc
SKU: B371 / 1597 /Regular price $39.95
Heading into the western extremes of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune traveling from Meursault, one comes to the higher altitude vineyards of Saint-Romain. In past generations it was too cool and under-invested to produce wines of great esteem but Alain Gras is bringing the region to new heights. From a mix of parcels throughout the appellation from forty year old vines on average, Gras' Saint-Romain blanc is a fantastic introduction to how fresh, textured wines are indeed accessible without paying the ticket price for some of Burgundy's more exclusive villages. Spending just under one year in a combination of tank and 20% new French oak, the 2017 blanc has a joyful immediacy and balance.
