2016 Radio-Coteau Pinot Noir 'Savoy Vineyard,' Anderson Valley
SKU: B251/
Regular price $73.95Before starting Radio-Coteau in 2001, winemaker Eric Sussman trained with Domaines Comte Armand and Jacques Prieur in Burgundy and his wines have since gained a cult following. All come from cool-climate coastal vineyards in western Sonoma County and the Anderson Valley. The Savoy Vineyard is located in the heart of the Anderson Valley and consistently produces Pinot Noir grapes of immense depth and flavor due to a long growing season moderated by the cooling maritime influence that flows through the valley.
'There are just over 300 cases of the 2016 Pinot Noir Savoy, which sees only a touch of stems as they feel this site is already structured enough. It's aged in one-third new French oak. Some tart cherry, strawberry, and even a touch of blue fruits emerge from the glass, and it has a solid sense of soil, mineral, and earth as well as a floral hint. Silky, medium-bodied, elegant, with nicely integrated tannins, it fleshes out nicely with time in the glass, but it's certainly one of the more structured wines in the lineup. Give it a year or three and it should keep for a decade.' (93+ points)
