Paso Robles is located about halfway between Los Angeles and San Fransisco and enjoys a sunny, Mediterranean climate very similar to that of France's Southern Rhône Valley. This makes it a natural choice to grow Rhône varietals and Saxum is focused solely on making bold wines from the Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre grapes. 'James Berry' is a high elevation, estate vineyard located only about 9 miles from the ocean. It consistently produces a rich, layered and age-worthy expression of these classic Rhône varietals.
