2008 Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru 'Clos du Château des Ducs'

Representing one of Volnay's most traditional winemaking, family's the Lafarge name has become synonymous with harmonious, restrained and intricate wines. Certified biodynamic, Domaine Michel Lafarge is rigid about their vineyard practices hoping to create transparent wines with the consistent capability of long-term aging. Sadly, Michel Lafarge passed away last January with over sixty vintages under his belt but the winery is great hands as his son Frédéric and now his granddaughter Clothilde are dedicated to carrying the torch to its well-established high standards. 

One of the stars of Domaine Lafarge and the Volnay appellation as a whole is the monopole vineyard, 'Clos du Château des Ducs'. In Lafarge family hands since 1900, this is a magical protected 'clos' (walled vineyard) which has well draining soil spared from winds and potential impurities from neighboring vineyards.
