For almost six centuries, Chateau La Croix de Gay has looked after an exceptional terroir in Pomerol. The Raynaud-Lebreton family, now at the helm of the estate, have been involved with winemaking since 1772 and have been present in Pomerol since 1447.
Chateau La Croix de Gay's 4.2-hectare vineyard, primarily planted with 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc, consists of 10 parcels on gravel, sand, and clay soils. The average vine age is nearly 30 years, with a density of 5,000 vines per hectare. Wine production involves vinification in 10 tulip-shaped, temperature-controlled concrete vats, with malolactic fermentation in both oak barrels and tanks. The wine is then aged in 50% new French oak barrels for about 18 months, reflecting the estate's dedication to quality and terroir expression.
