Pierre-Vincent Girardin’s Meursault ‘Les Narvaux’ has a reputation for disruption, with both the 2022 and 2020 renditions stealing star-studded blind tasting events at the shop over the last year alone. And, despite a terrific top-to-bottom performance in 2023, Pierre-Vincent again has provided a ‘Les Narvaux’ that refuses villages typecasting.
His parcel here, .25ha in the upper part of the vineyard, sources a sparer and more mineral style of wine than the already spare and mineral style of the lower portion. Terrific reductive intensity - sweet citrus and sea salt - animates a lithe but ultra-intense palate that today has stones and spice (ginger, saffron) at the fore. Lemon/lime notes build impressively in the glass.
Another pound-for-pound legend and one that match-races the 2020 for top honors of this routinely superb wine.
Cheers,
Jason
